In my blog I further explain how social media and
procrastination are related. People get addicted to social media but then results in procrastination of what needs to get done. Smartphones can
be counted as social media because they are portable and the majority of Americans
have their Smartphones in arms reach around the clock. in this blog you will see how Social Media affects our working life. I will also include writers like Steven Johnson's outlook on Games how he thinks it helps children. Also Marie Winn talking about Television the plug in drug and how it shaped families today. I hope you find my blog
useful.

Are we being rewired by tech?; How the digital world is changing our behaviour.
Kendall was explaining that the digital world is changing our way
of life. For example there was a big
difference between heavily multitaskers and light multitaskers. It showed that
the heavily multitaskers easily got distracted and less able to maintain their
concentration. The internet encourages procrastination. Piers Steel a professor
of phycology at the University of Calgary, did a research on people admitting
that they procrastinate. In 1978 the average procrastination rate was 15
percent and today studies show it is at 60 percent. The probability of showing
how it raised could most likely tie into social media and the use of
smartphones.

Slaves to our Smartphones
Smartphones are taking over our lives. It’s hard to
separated working life from our own private lives now. For example bosses can
easily make last minute changes over text or email you on your smartphone to
let you know. It’s hard to plan for the future because smartphones are causing
last minute changes. Some studies showed that smartphones are a distraction to
what is needed to get done. Individuals rather check their e-mails or other social media network than complete
what needs to get done. If smartphones weren’t constantly a distraction
individuals would go deeper into their work and perform better. It’s hard to
take a break from your smartphone in this day’s age unless you live in away
from civilization.A hard working organization proved that we can break of being slaves to our smartphones because they had a certain time they had to
be offline. At the beginning workers were annoyed of the rules but in the end
it forced workers to work and produce more productivity and it reduced
burnouts. Just imagine if we all took a break from our smartphone for a while
how much more work we would get done without the distractions?

How Do Teens Do Homework Today?
A high school student is talking about homework. She says
she listens to her Ipod while doing her homework. Then she goes on the computer
to write a paper. She opens up her Facebook page. After a while she wonders all
over the Internet like checking her email and YouTube, she texts her friend. Takes
a break because nothing is being accomplished. After her break she really gets into
her homework once she decides to actually start she goes away from her phone
and gets her homework done.
(This is an example of a student working under pressure.)
